This is the new work of a student at Luther College in Iowa, Kristen Learman.
When I asked her where she got her patterns she said : “As for the patterns, I found designs in a pattern book and adapted them to my need (example: on the large plate, I found a half-circle pattern which I adjusted and added a connecting segment so the pattern would work as a circular border”
This is exactly why we picked the pattern books that we have to sell – freeing people to kolros on anything!
Below is the wonderful work of Meipo Martin – believe it or not, she is new to kolrosing!
The first 2 photos are of her tool box cover.
The third picture is of the kolrosed signature she added to a chip carved mail box.
Notice how finely she has done tight curves in both pieces, her use of fine shading marks,
and how intersecting cuts don’t run past each other, very careful work.
